Baby Quilt Time!

A good friend of mine is expecting her first baby next month.  I had a ball making two baby quilts for her.  Well, actually I made four baby quilts.  For some bizarre reason I was picturing her with a baby girl, so the first two quilts had a bit more pink in them.  As soon as she told me they were expecting a boy, I started on two more quilts because when I looked at the original two quilts the pink REALLY stood out!  It was actually pretty funny.

Here is my favorite one – I love the Minky back fabric and I just love all the animals on the fabrics on the front.

Playing with a Jelly Roll

Here is another set of blocks I am playing with.  I started off with this cool jelly roll.  I had seen a block like this on Jeni Baker’s site and wanted to give it a try.  However rather than using white as the background, I wanted to use a busy looking fabric just to see what it would look like.  I have finished half of the blocks and I think the striped background fabric adds some fun energy into the block.  I am about halfway done with the blocks and am looking forward to making more!

Minky Takes the Chill Out!

This has been everyone’s favorite snuggle quilt over the past week.  It has been unusually cold here and we’re all feeling the need to be covered in soft, fuzzy quilts.  The blue back is the softest Minky fabric I have felt yet!  It is perfection.

Happy Tuesday! A Few Parts in Progress…

Greetings!  I’ve been busy making parts this past week.  There have been so many things I’ve wanted to just dabble in – so that is exactly what I’ve been doing.  How fun is that?  Here are two of the parts I’ve been working on – a fun star strata piece using an 8 1/2 inch triangle and then of course sailboats.

The fabric for the star strata is much prettier than the photo.  The colors are just gorgeous and it reminds me of my Grandma’s aprons and sheets from many years ago.

The sailboats are just for fun.  I have no idea what I’ll do with those yet!  Just always good to have some of those around.  I love the Peanuts boat!

Just for giggles – here are a couple of close up shots of our Christmas tree 🙂  We do love a busy tree!
